Bridgwater & District Agricultural Society Ploughing Match

The BAS has an historic tie with the Bridgwater Ploughing Match and our support for it is included in our Memorandum and Articles of Association.

The Ploughing Match is held annually each September, always on a farm local to Bridgwater, and is now in its 73rd year.

The ploughing match combines modern machinery and methods with the more traditional farming practises and is always very well supported.

Particularly popular are the horse ploughing classes, which attract entries from all over the south west, and the wide variety of vintage machinery which is seen on show and in the working environment.

Special classes are also included to encourage entries from young or novice competitors.
