Case Studies
From flower shows to school to farm trips, from ploughing matches to bee-keeping, from young farmers to saving lives, BAS has funded and supported projects that have made a difference to many people’s lives. These are just some examples of how our grants have been put to good use.
In June 2019 the Society once again attended the Brymore Open Day.
Bridgwater Agricultural Society has been supporting the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance for many years.
Grace is the daughter of a farmer, a member of Somerset Young Farmers who has always been involved in the agriculture community in Somerset.
The BAS has an historic tie with the Bridgwater Ploughing Match and our support for it is included in our Memorandum and Articles of Association.

The Holstein South West Calf Show that was held at Sedgemoor Auction Centre on 1 September 2017. The Society sponsored the show, which particularly encourages young handlers.
The Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group South West has received multiple grants from BAS. Most recently they applied for a grant of £3000 towards the costs of their educational programme for Somerset primary school children - the Kingfisher Award Scheme. The scheme provides children with the opportunity to go on to farms to explore the natural world.
BAS has supported Brymore School, now Brymore Academy, with many grants over the years. Most recently we purchased a plough which we have lent on a permanent basis and which allows students to compete in the annual Bridgwater ploughing match.
Quantock Beekeepers located to their new premises at Charlynch, a purpose built permanent site, in 2013 and since then have received two grants from BAS.
BAS has been sponsoring the annual Farm Management competition for members of Somerset Centre of Management for many years.
